Scanlon Creek Hockey Academy (SCHA) is a full time boarding private hockey school, located just north of Toronto in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The Academy provides all academic and hockey needs under one roof. Our education is provided by Renaissance, a Canadian registered private school. Players can take a full academic work load, just a couple courses, or none if they wish to focus on hockey.
In its inaugural year SCHA will be represented by a U-19 intermediate AA, Girls Prep Team. Players ages are from International is a multinational company and our Academy is not an exception. We see great value in having a mix of players from Canada, USA, Europe and Asia. It is that mix that gives our program the unique environment and irreplaceable life experience for our athletes. Our team is Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) registered and Hockey Canada sanctioned. Being sanctioned allows us to participate in the largest tournaments around North America. These tournaments present a great opportunity for our players to be showcased in front of numerous NCAA and College scouts. The Girls U-19 team will play an exhibition schedule vs. our local Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) teams on top of the tournament schedule. The full season will range between 35 and 40 games. Players will practice on ice a minimum of 4 times a week depending on games. We enjoy an excellent on ice facility with our own full time dressing room where players leave their gear.
Our three main focuses at Scanlon Creek Hockey have always been Skill Development / Conditioning and Player Promotion. The Academy will follow the same model. A “practice first” mentality is essential for players to gain the skills and conditioning necessary to be successful at the next level.
We take great pride in player promotion. Our game is very competitive, not just on the ice. Players looking to advance into leagues such as CAA need more than being a great player. In today’s game player promotion is essential. We work hard to ensure that your talents don’t go unnoticed. We use many methods including player profiles, game tape and conditioning statistics all of which are powerful tools to catch a recruiter’s eye. By far the best asset we use to promote our players is the strong relationships we have developed with people working in organizations at the next level.
Many of these people are coaches, managers and scouts that are constantly looking for their next big recruit.
We make sure they know about you!
European Evaluation Camps present a real opportunity for players to be scouted and later placed in North American hockey programs. During the camps we assess talent and inform players of the necessary steps they need to take to achieve their goals in hockey. We have helped many Europeans come overseas to play hockey with reputable organizations in the United States and Canada in leagues such as: OHL, USHL, EJHL, NAHL, AJHL, CSHL, WSHL, Prep Schools and the NCAA.
